In the vast majority of tasks altivec is not going to make up for 500mhz. Though, make note of the fact that the G3 had a very week FPU, and at 1ghz would properly perform like a 500mhz G4 for media tasks. But I doubt much slower. So the G3 is really a better deal, in some things it will be sigificantly faster because the G3 did have a strong ALU.

Yep same flash bug but mine focuses straight away.
The camera roll bug bothers me the most where the folder slides up under the title so you cannot click it.

Is TinkerTool even made for this?
If you meant this (http://www.macworld.com/article/42469/2005/01/2waystreet.html) trick, then there is no need for TinkerTool, as you can enable "show hidden files" via Terminal, but that would only work with an iPod usable as disk drive, and the iPod touch does not have that feature, thus exPod (linked above) is enough.

Remember you're talking about the low end of the Mac graphics lineup. Most of the better games require a lot of power that low end video solutions don't have. I bought a G4 tower that came with a Rage 128 Pro 16mb graphics card that couldn't play games for crap. That was the low end back when this machine was new. I have a Radeon 9700 in there now and games run a lot better. Unfortunately, the mini can't be upgraded, so you're stuck with what you have. Be sure you read the system requirements on any game before you buy it in the future as it may not run adequately, if at all, on your machine. If gaming is your goal, you need a machine with a better graphics card in the future. My brother has a 24" iMac with the 7300GT graphics card and that's not even high end for games and graphics work although it does work well enough.

Golden rule: do not buy no name RAM. Most of it won't work.
Well known brands like Crucial/Micron, Corsair, Kingston, Hynix, Samsung, Infineon etc. will work. RAM must be low density (ask seller before buying in case of any doubts).

Try again...its confirmed (via another thread) that Apple was having issues with their activation servers. I just tried about 10 mins ago and was able to activate my 3GS...

TinyUmbrella is now updated to support 4.3.2 / 4.2.7 iOS versions. He has also added a simple feature to allow you to 'Visit Blog' when updates are available.
OK so it looks like Cydia is giving up the ghost and having some major issues. So you may want to save your SHSH from APPLE directly instead of CYDIA (the default) go into Advanced options and UNCHECK the box that clearly says: "Request SHSH From Cydia" then click 'Apply Changes' then select your device then click 'Save SHSH'
Note to keep Cydia from trashing your saved SHSH I suggest changing the location you save to as well at this point.....

...Make comments! It s frustrating when you submit a song I am completely unfamiliar with and say nothing about what led you to submit it! Yes, I could just go listen to it, I know, but the point of this site is to get me interested in that song the way you are.
Even a few words..."catchy riff!" or "great backbeat" would suffice. You must have a reason for submitting a song...tell us what it is!

yeah 8gb is kinda overkill for most tasks but with video editing and photo editing programs it really shines! The biggest improvement in speed was the 7200 rpm HDD. The thing boots in 20-30 seconds depending what you have starting up with the boot. Parallels also loves the 8gb of ram to run windows 7 and mac OS side by side. it's a great laptop but I needed a windows machine for work and have no reason to keep this.

I tried to read the article, but couldn't come away with anything as mind blowing as the title. Perhaps it's that Finals-Week state of mind...
Can someone sum up in two lines what's so cool about this, and what the possibilities are? From what I read it sounded like they made a better PDF file...

I have just set up my email account, I set it up and tested sending and recieving, I recieve mail fine, and I can send mail to myself, but I can't send it to any other address.
I have checked my firewall and changed the settings, but nothing happens, I have tried multiple addresses from my address book and from just typing them in.
I have looked at the mail settings, but I cant appear to find anything that links with my problem.
my mail version is 1.3.9 (v619/619.2) on 10.3.8
any suggestions?
thanks

If none of those options work for you, find a church or school that would take them. Many have access to low income families that could use a computer for simple word processing, email and web surfing.
Great idea!

Thanks, I read somewhere that the difference between recovery mode and DFU mode is iboot, and iboot blocks a restore unless it higher than what you currently have, but iboot doesn't run in DFU mode.
I'll try some more to see what I can do, but the last few times I tried shift + restore with 3.1.3 it didn't succeed (I'm using tiny umbrella to exit recovery mode at the end too)

I want to spend like $100-$200, Preferable 256MB+ RAM, 10GB+ HD, 750MHz+, and a DVD drive is prefered, but not necessary, I'll need at least a Working CD-Rom drive. No OS is necessary, but if you have Windows 200 Pro, I might be interested. Let me know, IBMs, Dells, etc would be fine, and the screen size dosent matter as long as it works.
Battery life isnt an issue, as long as it can hold like 30+ mins
make me offers, Mayeb we can make a deal, thanks :-D

Hello errybody,
I have a girlfriend whom I love very much, and sometimes when I miss her I like to read the text messages we sent each other before we started dating. Call me gay or whatever, but it's what I do :p.
Normally, I would just mosey on over to the text message conversation and hit "load earlier messages." But we've been dating for a while now, and hitting that button only takes me back like 12 hours, or at most a day (I do a lot of texting)! So if I want to see those earlier messages I have to sit there for at least 30 minutes before I reach the beginning. Does anyone have a faster method? I used to think I knew everything about iOS, but this is throwing me for a loop...
Thanks for your help!
