John Galliano Spring/Summer 2010.

Divine little Galliano dolly-birds! The styling is quite Janis Joplin-esque, which may be a contributing factor to my lusting over the entire collection. The man could doll-up a paper bag.

Unbelievable range - she does everything; photography, drawing, 'constructions', films... I'm a convert and I wanted to share her.

The Amazing Askill Brothers.

These are the fantastic works of the multi-talented Askill bros. The first two pieces are sculptures by Jordan Askill, the following are but a few examples of his jewellery, and the final work is called "We Have Decided Not To Die" and its by Daniel Askill (Jordan is the man jumping through the glass).
WOW!! Brothers Askill, this doll salutes you!

Ellen Von Unwerth

Ellen Von Unwerth is such an interesting photographer to me. She by no means just photographs female subjects, but when she does, she has this undeniable oeuvre. Obviously they are constructed with the woman as sexual icon, but the seeming 'availabilty' of the subjects is interesting as its another instance of 'women constructing themselves for the male gaze' - a long standing art debate when looking at photographs of women.
Beautiful work. I would love to read some of Von Unwerth's interviews to gain some insight into her rhetoric.

Cecil Beaton

"Charles James Evening Dresses" New York, 1948

How beautiful. The picture of the 'Charles James Evening Dresses' is one of Beaton's most iconic photographs...
Known for his portraiture, he helped to collapse the divide between fashion photography/portrait photography and art photography.
The favourite photographer of Audrey Hepburn. How revelatory are his shots of Marilyn??
What do you think?
