The last thing I want is the need to constantly connect to the internet and download the maps every time when I want to get some navigation. The Google maps solution is not ideal if they still don't allow caching maps or local navigation database.
The latest Google maps (and Google navigation) that is used on Android both have caches. Maps has a setting for it.
Google Navigation caches the route and continues even in airplane mode, including at least some rerouting if you miss a turn. Someone made an example video here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzQo7-DH2CU&feature=player_embedded#at=247).

I dunno, but here in the UK I've never gone below maximum signal strength with my 5 year old Nokia (except in tunnels and underground), how come AT&T actually has to make an App to report coverage issues?

/me is hoping Nokia and MS can get their &$?t together and come up with an alternative to Apple. Not that I would switch, but if I had to I'd rather go to another monolithic system than the fragmented mess that is the Android landscape
True, but M$ has already announced that nokia won't be it's only manufacturer, and vice versa, nokia is still pursuing other options as well. Personally, I think the HP/Palm has more potential to take on Apple as a unified system, but they don't have a good track record so far...

Apple STICKS to their major plans / release schedules. They don't care about what competitors are doing. I believe they are rarely surprised. Superhuman? No. Infallible? No. Confident in themselves and meticulous in their planning/execution? Absolutely.
Apple's invitations for WWDC said the future of Mac OS X and iOS will be the focus. So, why would Apple not also show off the new hardware that will take optimal advantage of the new software?!
iPhone 5 WILL be revealed at WWDC and avail for purchase very end of 3rd week of June or sometime during 4th week.
iOS 5 will be previewed at WWDC, though does not need to be available by iPhone 5's release.
Rather, iOS 5 will likely be released at same time as Lion (also previewed at WWDC) later in the summer.
Finally, I bet Apple TV running iOS 5 will also be shown with ability to access App Store winning the battle for the living room.
We've heard rumors of a metal back for iPhone 5...I'll also bet iPhone 5's metal back and frame is made using alloys from LiquidMetal...have we all forgotten that little licensing deal? Thin, lightweight but extraordinarily durable. Steve will be able to once again declare it is the thinnest, lightest phone available...beating their own previously released product once again.
After WWDC, you're welcome to slam away if I'm wrong. The only question I have remaining...besides having maybe slightly better cameras and slightly faster speed, what else could they possibly build into the iPhone to make it magically amazing and a must have for iPhone 4 owners?! Also, when's the iCar coming with an augmented reality windshield for weather, traffic, and navigation? ;-)

Why is there no looting in Japan?
The Yakuza. (http://www.slate.com/id/2288514/)
And more importantly, the very fact that even the Yakuza operate off a very strict honor code means American levels of criminal violence are just unheard of in Japan. And you wonder why--and this is true!--that Japanese sometimes call teenage delinquents "Yankees" (I kid you not!).

The Japanese have a very high social contract. They live and work in tight quarters so they follow the rules as to not offend anyone. It's part of their culture. I don't see the connection with this and healthcare.

And this is why we don't take Daring Fireball as fact people, even though I could have told you this 2 months ago.
Daring Fireball stated the iPad 3 in 2011 was PURE SPECULATION not based on any kind of rumor or inside info. I guess everyone forgot to read that part of the post.
And, yeah, duh. With what's going on in Japan right now, we will be VERY fortunate to see an iPad Retina display in 2012.

Nobody in their right mind would take a look at the pathetic 5.5th generation "upgrade" and think that was what Apple had planned all along.
yes and with the 5th anniversary of ipod today, tommorrow could be very bright.

I loved the first Portal and The Orange Box, but $50 for Portal 2 seems kind of steep to me.
I feel the same way. Just wait a while. There will be sales and It'll go down in price in time. Valve is good about this, unlike say Nintendo. I'll be getting it then myself.
It would probably be better if you never posted here again.
Just because you and I don't agree with him is no reason to be rude.

It could last up till 7pm!? That's 4am AEST! ARGH!! If there's one thing this Ashes series has done, it's exposed cricket lovers at work. They are the red-eyed, bumbling fools. :)

Following your logic you should not use Word 2011 (or any other version on any OS) either. It has not and never had a build in bibliography tool. And I cannot count the very basic citation function as a bibliography tool. I don't know what obscure third party programmes you are referring to by "copy & paste", but have you ever heard of "Endnote"? It is what most students at universities across the globe use and not only works with Word, but also Pages. There are similar apps of course, some even free. Endnote for example works like a plugin in your word processor (no advertising, it's just the programme I personally know best). No need to copy & paste. And why would a third party app spoil iWork for you? Even for LATEX editors it would make sense to use a third party tool to manage bibliography in order to directly link to the database (e.g. PubMed) to avoid copy & paste.
But what you have not considered is that Word is getting abysmal when you:

Wow, I think this is really interesting but i don't agree with you. I think the wider screen is the best option, I don't know why... You say you read from your iPad while it's in the same orientation of a page... I NEVER do that, I much prefer the wide orientation... So I guess it's comes down to some kind of unconscious preference... And maybe it's the same thing that make me comfortable on a 11" macbook air...
I'm a big fan of the Reader function in the Mac OS X Safari. Do you use that? When it's not available, I usually try to zoom-in to simulate it. But I also spend a significant amount of time reading web pages in landscape mode on a 800x480, 3.5 inch screen. Conversely, I read books in portrait. Go figure.

See this blog post with stats.

A graph with no x- or y-axis units.
Boy that sure is helpful!
I love this response on your blog to the same inquiry:
I have purposely not shown the y-axis as this is commercially sensitive info but you do get the relationship between them all.
No, we don't get the relationship between them all. There is no sense of scale whatsoever. You don't want to show exact sales numbers, we get that. Ever heard of percentages being used for a y-axis? Christ.

Now that I think about it, the post about the HD content taking up so much room is right on. I don't thing 120GB will be enough for all my HD episodes of jericho and enterprise. Much less all my other stuff thats on there.
Use the AppleTV for downloaded shows (rumor is HD versions are coming?).
If you fill the HD up, upgrade it (http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/23/how-to-upgrade-the-drive-in-your-apple-tv/) and put a new one in (if you're tech savvy and don't mind voiding the warranty).

Bad move...
Obviously, there is huge demand for cheaper Macs. Cheap doesn't equal bad!
Mac minis should start at $399
iMacs should start at $899
MacBooks should start at $799
MacBook Pros should start at $1499
Mac Pros should start at $1499
There is no reason this wouldn't work.
