Kat Von D is a person I've looked up to since I was 14. I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil & tattooing has always fasinated me.
From what I remember a while back, watching the first LA ink season premiere commercial I've ever seen, I was so drawn to Kat Von D's beauty & tattoos. I immediately wanted to know who the beautiful, heavily tattooed woman on TV was. Kat Von D opened up the breath-taking tattoo world for me. On LA ink she showed what real tattooing was. It didnt show the negitive reputation what tattoos had, it showed me different. It was the beautiful art on one soul who was lucky enough to carry on them for the rest of their lives. That's when I decided that I wanted to become a tattoo artist when I grew up.Thanks to Miss Kat Von D.
I'm a fan of Kats because she has jaw dropping art skills and tattoos absolutely RAD!
I love Kats connection with people she tattoos. As the client expresses the emotions & story behind the tattoo, Katherine Von Drachenberg is there listening and marking the lucky soul for life all while learning life lessons or helping the client cope or celebrate a landmark in their life. I'm also a fan of Kat because she stays true and honest to herself and her beloved fans. She doesn't care what people think about her and I love that! She changed the negative aspect of what tattoos had. I believe people respect tattoos more & look at them as an art form. Kat shows that if your passionate about something you love, anything is possible.
When Kat tweeted me the first time, I couldn't believe it. My heart completely dropped. I drew a portrait of the shop manager of High Voltage Tattoo, G-Spot. I remember I twitpic'd the drawing to him and he RT'd it and Kat seen it and tweeted me, "Woah you just blew my mind!!!" I was so stunned that my ultimate hero tweeted me that. It meant the world to me! It's so rad to see that she gets out of her way to talk to me through twitter and gives me feedback on my art. Kat is such a humble and sweet person to do that for me.
Katherine Von Drachenberg, hands down is the person I will look up to for the rest of my life. Without Kat, I definitely wouldn't be where I am with my art or even drawing period! All the inspiration she gave me still till this day drives me to explore tattooing and art.
If I had the chance to tell something to Kat in person I would say, "Thank you for being born." Wether she knows it or not, she made a huge impact in my life and I thank her from the bottom of my heart for that.
I would love to thank the raddest blogger of all time of Deepest Ink for including me in this guest post in her blog. Congrats on the 1st Anniversary of your blog & hope there is many more to come! You Rock!
Xoxo, Melina Marie Espinoza.
Melina is a truly young sweetheart. I'm pretty sure she'll become an artist. She has determination and her art is amazing. Through her art was how I found her: the day Kat retweeted her I could see her work. - posted below a couple of her portraits-
I am still speachless because it's me who is thankful with these kind words.
If you liked her post, please send her a nice comment to her Twitter!
