Everybody wants a piece of Kate Von D

A Guest Post by @ILuvKatvonD (Paul)

How I became a fan of Kat Von D

My first incounter with Kat Von D was in the many tattoo magzines advertising Miami Ink and this lady in the advert looked so beautiful and very different I had to watch. Lucky enough my parents had cable so I was able to watch Miami Ink (Thank god) and I was so amazed that someone had even come up with the idea of a T.V series about a tattoo parlour. I myself had personally been into art & tattoo arts for a while, and to be able to watch great artists draw and design custom made tattoos for there customers was an eye opener, and some of the customers personal stories of why they were getting a tattoo was sometimes very touching, be it a memorial tattoo for a friend or family member that may have passed away just broke my heart.

I have a memorial tattoo myself for my sister who passed away in 2004 due to cancer. But after watching artists on Miami Ink made me realize just how talented they really were, and I think it opened up a lot of other peoples eyes as well, that they are not just a bunch of weird looking tattooed freaks like some people make them out to be! I have more respect now then ever for good tattoo artists.

So there she was part of the Miami Ink team! Kat Von D was tall, cool, long black hair, big sunglasses, big smile, amazing tattoos, and an amazing passion for music Miami Ink was definitely worth watching. But then she left Miami Ink due difficult times with Ami James. So that left me thinking I would never see Kat again, how wrong was I. Lucky enough the producers and T.V company of Miami Ink could see that Kat was a star in her own right and recieved her own T.V show.

L.A Ink was then born! This T.V program has enabled me and others to get to know more about Kat Von D as a person and more about her as an artist, I knew that Kat was a great tattoo artist but I never knew she could create amazing oil painting’s as well. So without Miami Ink & L.A Ink I would be a lot less informed about Kat Von D, and the other great artists connected to the tattoo scene like Kim Saigh, Hannah Aitchison and Corey Miller all tattoo stars in there own right. Having spent some time reading Kats Blogs on myspace (The social network.) It shows the real side to Kat, a more natural and down to earth person which, I really feel that Kat is just like you and me, with a bit of hard ass rock throne in, and artistic talent.

So no matter what you read about Kat Von D in the papers and magazines, which sometimes are lies & not facts, she is simply trying to find her way in the world, and is becoming a more experienced and wiser person. In someways we should look up to Kat and treat her as a role model, that doesn’t mean you need to get a whole load of tattoos, just be open minded about life and take the the chances when they are presented to us. We can all change ourselves to be a better person in many ways.

I really appreciate Paul   for supporting me since the beginning and I could never have enough words to thank that he accepted writting a guest post. We are typing on the same page and it's nice to find out people like that. You don't meet Led Zeppelin fans really often!

He introduced me Eve. He shared many personal facts in this entry. His post touched me and I hope it does to you.
