Teinele Napoli is a poster girl for the fast-growing female tattoo culture, and a walking advertisement for her own "ink shop".
"I was an illustrator with a diploma in visual art and I always thought the tattoo culture was pretty cool," she said.
"I'm still illustrating, but now it's on people's skin instead of on paper."
Ms Napoli will show off her tattoos at the Surf 'n' Ink international tattoo convention on the Gold Coast this week.
She said tattooed celebrities like MTV VJ Ruby Rose and Kat Von D, star of tattoo reality show LA Ink, were helping fuel the female tattoo boom.
"When I started commercial tattooing about four years ago, I was one of only about 10 female artists," she said.
"Now, there are nearly as many females as there are guys doing it."
Ms Napoli said she had no concerns about more tattoos – or how she would look when she was older.
"What's better, colourful skin or liver spots?" she said.
Ms Napoli said her daughter Amity, 6, thought her tattoos looked "rad".
The convention will run from Friday to Sunday at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
